Consumer prices up 3.4 in June on a year earlier

Summary
The Portuguese Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 3.4% in June 2008 when compared with June 2007. On a monthly basis, the CPI increased 0.5%. The CPI 12-month average rate of change increased from 2.6% in May 2008 to 2.7% in June.
In June the Portuguese Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) increased 3.4% when compared with the same month of the previous year, 0.6 percentage points below the rate estimated by Eurostat for the Euro area.
