Summary
The new orders in construction index increased by 51.1% in the first quarter of 2014 when comparing with the same quarter of 2013 (change rate of -30.2% in the previous quarter). This behaviour was determined by Civil Engineering sector index which moved from a change rate of -39.9% in last quarter of 2013 to 106.0% in the following quarter, mainly reflecting the launch of tenders for the completion of the Túnel do Marão. The Building Construction index presented a null year-on-year change rate (-22.2% in the previous quarter).
