Early estimates on January 31 point to a significant reduction in olive for olive oil production (-30% compared to 2015), reflecting unfavorable climatic conditions and the yearly alternation of production of traditional olive groves. As for the autumn/winter cereals, there was a generalized decrease in sown areas compared to the previous season, ranging from -15% in durum wheat to -5% in rye. The plant development of these crops slowed down considerably with the intense cold and the lack of rain, a situation that was overturned from the last week of January.
