Summary
July, August and September recorded an increase in the number of tourists and travel by residents in Portugal. Vis-à-vis the same period of the previous year, total travel increased by 11.6% and the share of the population travelling rose by 1 percentage point. In this quarter, 71.6% of the trips were due to recreation and holidays, and August was the preferred month with 79.9% of travel for these reasons. The Algarve was the main destination with 31.0% of total overnight stays in this quarter.
