(1) Data for 2023 are based on the information registered in the Civil Register Offices until March 2024.
(2) From January 1st, 2015 came into force a new version of NUTS (NUTS 2013). At NUTS II level was just a name change in "Lisboa" which became known as "Área Metropolitana de Lisboa".
(3) The category "Other" refers to marriages celebrated in religious form before a minister of worship of a church or religious community based in Portugal, which, as from 2007, began to produce civil effects, similar to Catholic marriage (Decree-Law No 324/2007).
(4) Data for the years 2011, 2012 and 2013 took into account adjustments that reflect the changes arising from the legislation related to the administrative territorial reorganization of parishes, with entry into force on September 30, 2013.
