(1) There are hospitals whose activity is reported by the respective hospital centre and, therefore, it is not possible to disaggregate them by municipality. In these cases, the criterion adopted is the location of the hospital centre.
(2) Data on deliveries in hospitals cover official hospitals and private hospitals. Data on deliveries gathered by the Hospitals Survey concern indicators of activity in health care establishments, which may not coincide with the statistics collected under the operation Statistics Portugal - Deliveries. Official statistics on the number of deliveries, total and by place of delivery, are those produced by the operation Statistics Portugal - Deliveries, which result from the integration of administrative data of live births, stillbirths and neonatal deaths.
