(1) Data for 2021 have been revised in May 2023, as a result of the final codification of causes of death in the death registers for 2021.
Data for 2022 are based on the information registered in the Civil Register Offices until March 2023.
(2) From January 1st, 2015 came into force a new version of NUTS (NUTS 2013). At NUTS II level was just a name change in "Lisboa" which became known as "Área Metropolitana de Lisboa".
(3) Data according to the administrative territorial organization (Official Administrative Map of Portugal - CAOP 2013) and the new version of NUTS (NUTS 2013) that came into force from January 1, 2015 onwards.
Data for the years 2011, 2012 and 2013 took into account adjustments that reflect the changes arising from the legislation related to the administrative territorial reorganization of parishes, with entry into force on September 30, 2013. The values do not include deaths of resident individuals in Portugal with unknown residences, which are not identifiable within a territorial unit.
