(1) From January 1st, 2015 came into force a new version of NUTS (NUTS 2013). At NUTS II level was just a name change in "Lisboa" which became known as "Área Metropolitana de Lisboa".
(2) The data presented refer only to information on the activity of the management entities (ME) of the Water Supply systems at lower (retai) level. For some NUT3 regions in 2016 and 2017, some data were estimated based on information by municipalities for cases in which the retail water supply management entities serve 2 or more municipalities and reported a total of waters losses for all the ME activity. Due to lack of replies from some ME in the Mainland and the Azores region it is impossible to provide a national total. The losses of the ME acting at bulky or wholesale level of water supply are not included.
