Concepts
  • EMPLOYEE WITH A FIXED-TERM CONTRACT:  A person tied to a company or institution by a written contract with a fixed term with a mention of its justification: a) established duration: when the written contract expressly indicates the duration of the contract and its expiry date; b) indeterminate duration: when the employment contract lasts as long as necessary to replace an absent employee or until the completion of an activity, task or work whose performance justifies the contract.
  • EMPLOYEE WITH A PERMANENT WORK CONTRACT:  An individual bound to the enterprise/institution by means of a permanent work contract or a work contract with undetermined duration.
  • EMPLOYED:  An individual above a specified age who during the reference period was in 1 of the following situations: a) Worked at least one hour for pay or profit; b) Held employment and was absent from work but maintained a formal link to his/her employment; c) Self-employed but temporarily absent from work for a specific reason; d) At a pre-retirement stage but working during the reference period.
  • LIFELONG LEARNING:  This includes all intentional learning activities undertaken during a person¿s life in formal, non-formal or informal contexts, with the purpose of acquiring, developing or improving knowledge, skills and competences from a personal, civic, social and/or occupational point of view.
  • REFERENCE PERIOD:  Period to which the information refers and which may be a specific day or a time interval (month, fiscal year, calendar year, among others).
