Concepts
  • PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRE:  A unit of public health services that is targeted at promoting health, preventing disease and providing care, by intervening in the first line of action of the National Health Service and ensuring continuity of care, whenever there is the need to resort to other specialised services and care. It aims at both individual and family health and group and community health, through appropriate care, while taking into account practices recommended by the technical guidelines in force, disease diagnosis and treatment, generally directing its action to the individual, the family and the community. It may provide in-patient care.
  • -:  Service of official clinics for the care of clients in emergency situations and their referral to hospital care when needed, working on pre-arranged time, for 24 hours or shorter period. Depending on its period of operation the following designations are used: SASU ¿ Attendance Service of Emergency Situations; CAP - Permanent Care Centre; CATUS ¿ Attendance Centre and Emergency Treatments; SADU ¿ Attendance Service of Emergency Patients; AP ¿ Permanent Attendance; SAP / SU ¿ Permanent Emergency Service / Emergency Service.
  • REFERENCE PERIOD:  Period to which the information refers and which may be a specific day or a time interval (month, fiscal year, calendar year, among others).
  • -:  Emergency service of official clinic that sets up the first level of care for emergency situations, medical in nature (non-surgical, except for minor surgery) and may be based on a catchment area covering a population of over 40,000 inhabitants in which at least for a part, accessibility under normal conditions exceeds 60 minutes in relation to the emergency medical, surgical or polyvalent closer.
