Definition RATE OF POTENCIAL YEARS OF LIFE LOST - Number of potential years of life lost per hundred thousand inhabitants. It is through the ratio between the potential years of life lost and the average resident population (under 70 years) in a given period of time, usually the calendar year.
As a rule, this rates are not calculated when the place of residence or age are unknown.
