• EMPLOYED:  Person aged 16 to 89 who, during the reference period, was in one of the following situations: 1) worked for at least one hour for a wage or salary, in cash or in kind (including unpaid family work); 2) had a formal attachment to his/her job, but was not at work temporarily; 3) was in early retirement, but working in the reference week.
• UNEMPLOYED POPULATION:  Population formed by all unemployed persons
• REFERENCE PERIOD:  Period to which the information refers and which may be a specific day or a time interval (month, fiscal year, calendar year, among others).
• UNEMPLOYED:  Person aged between 16 and 74 who during the reference period met simultaneously the following conditions: 1) neither had a job nor was at work; 2) had actively sought work, i.e. had actively searched for a paid or unpaid job during the specified period (reference period or the three previous weeks); 3) was available for a paid or unpaid job.
