Observations The information published in this indicator is part of a composite indicator developed at EU level, in the context of the Digital Single Market strategy, whose methodology was revised in 2021. This composite indicator is based on a set of activities related to use of Information and Communication Technologies, grouped into five areas (information and data literacy, communication and collaboration, digital content creation, security, problem solving). For each of these five areas (dimensions) two levels of skills are computed ("basic" and "above basic"), later considered in the calculation of the overall digital skills indicator (with six levels of skills: "no skills", "limited", "narrow", "low", "basic" or "above basic"). In the definition of the overall digital skills indicator, it is assumed that individuals having performed certain activities have the corresponding skills, and in this way, the associated indicators can be considered as a proxy of the digital competences and skills of individuals.
