  • TONNAGE DEADWEIGHT (TDW):  The difference between the weight of a ship with its maximum authorised cargo and the weight of the unladen ship. This difference, which may be expressed in metric tonnes, corresponds to the weight of the cargo, passengers and their baggage, fuel and lubricants, water and provisions. TDW is normally used to express the tonnage of ships / tankers (oil tankers, etc.).
