Definition | The consumer confidence indicator is calculated by European Commission and it corresponds to the arithmetic average of the balances (of the answers to the questions on the past and expected financial situation of households, the expected general economic situation and the intentions to make major purchases over the next 12 months. EU and euro-area aggregate replies to the questionnaires are calculated as weighted averages of the country aggregate replies. Balances are seasonally adjusted.
