The downward trend of employment observed between 2009 and 2013 (the annual average rate of change was -2.8%) was reversed in the three subsequent years, with 1.6%, 1.1% and 1.2% increases respectively. This notwithstanding, the previous successive falls led the employment level in 2016 to 90.0% of the level recorded in 2008.
