There were considerable declines in the share of graduates in Education and Teacher Training and to a lesser extent in Architecture and Construction and Humanities (that dropped from the 3rd, 7th and 8th positions to the 10th, 8th and 9th respectively); Agriculture and Veterinary continued to rank last, with a minor negative change in preferences. By contrast, the main increases were observed in Health and Social Protection, Arts and Other services (that rose from the 5th, 10th and 9th positions to the 3rd, 6th and 7th respectively). Business and Administration and Law continued to rank first, experiencing a slight change, Engineering and Engineering Trades and Manufacturing reinforced its 2nd position, and Social and Behavioural Sciences, as well as Life Sciences and Computer Science, continued to rank 4th and 5th respectively, with virtually no changes. As regards the number of students enrolled, the relative position of the following fields of study changed in 2016/17 vis-à-vis 2000/01: Business and Administration and Law dropped one position, to the 2nd; Health and Social Protection rose two positions, to the 1st; Engineering and Engineering Trades rose two positions, recording the highest gain (7.8 p.p.), and moved to the 3rd position. The greatest loss was felt in Education and Training, which dropped by 14.5 p.p. to the 8th position; Agriculture and Veterinary continued to rank last, with the same share.
