COOPSTAT NEWS Nº 17 18 ESSnet Big Data – Work Packages 6 e 7 | ESSnet Big Data – 6th and 7th Work Packages Nos dias 17 e 18 de Abril de 2018 o INE foi o anfitrião das reuniões dos Work Packages 6 e 7 da ESSnet sobre Big Data em que nos encontramos envolvidos. Recebemos colegas de vários países que estão a trabalhar connosco na antecipação de indicadores macroeconómicos usando modelos de regressão linear sobre dados de tráfego (WP6) e também na classificação de texto usando técnicas de aprendizagem supervisionada com algoritmos de support vector machines tanto em R como em Python, sobre webscrapped text de sites de turismo (WP7). Estas reuniões, que foram as últimas do SGA2 da ESSnet Big Data, que chega agora ao fim, foram muito úteis para a partilha de problemas e soluções entre as várias equipas que estão a explorar como as fontes de Big Data podem auxiliar e assistir a produção estatística. On 17 and 18 April, Statistics Portugal hosted the meetings of the 6th and 7th Work Packages of the ESSnet Big Data project, in which our Institute is involved. We have welcomed colleagues from several countries, who are working with us in forecasting macroeconomic indicators by using linear regression models on traffic loops (WP6) and also in text classification, by using supervised machine learning techniques with support vector machines algorithms, both in R and Python, on webscrapped text from tourism websites (WP7). These meetings were the last ones from the ESSnet Big Data SGA2, which is now coming to an end, and were particularly useful for the exchange of problems and solutions by the numerous teams that are exploring the ways in which Big Data sources can support and assist statistical production.
