COOPSTAT NEWS N.º 18 7 My time in Portugal has definitely been one of my best experiences so far. There was so much to learn and see and while every journey has its pros and cons, the good has definitely outweighed anything negative by far. To anyone considering the traineeship at INE, I would strongly recommend taking part in it! I hope that the contacts we have made will stay strong and that we would have the opportunity to continue our collaboration. Obrigado a todos, Vladimir Zivanovic União Europeia e Países do Alargamento European Union and Enlargement Countries A coordenadora do estágio | The traineeship coordinator Acolher outro estagiário no INE tornou-se algo bastante natural para a equipa do DMSI/II (Departamento de Metodologias e Sistemas de Informação/ Serviço de Infraestrutura Informacional). Todos os anos aguardamos ansiosamente por este input fresco de novas ideias, métodos e conhecimento, mas também de hábitos, outras línguas e diferenças culturais que nos enriquecem. De certo modo, ter o Vladimir connosco não foi diferente… Partilhar o conhecimento sobre a produção de Estatísticas Oficiais e em particular sobre data warehouse está muito relacionado com padrões de qualidade e métodos, mas também com cultura e visão. Ajuda-nos a perceber quão europeu o INE é e não apenas português. Este facto materializa-se na nossa abordagem diária aos problemas, na nossa compreensão alargada das questões, na forma como planeamos o futuro e também no modo de desenvolver soluções hoje em dia, que se baseia não apenas no nosso conhecimento e experiências, mas também no input que recebemos do SEE [Sistema Estatístico Europeu]. Com a sua curiosidade relativamente a aspetos que para nós são já relativamente comuns (mas não ainda para ele), como o GSBPMou standards GSIM, e a sua disponibilidade Having another trainee here has already become natural for us at DMSI/II (Department of Methodology and Information Systems/ Informational Infrastructure Unit). Every year we eagerly wait for this fresh input of ideas, methods and knowledge but also of habits, languages and cultural differences that enrich us. In a way having Vladimir with us was not different… Sharing the knowledge about Official Statistics Production and in particular about the Data Warehouse has a lot to do with standards and methods but also with culture and vision. It helps us to realize how much we are European at INE and not only Portuguese. This materializes in our everyday approach to problems, our enlarged understanding of questions, our planning of the future and the way we develop solutions nowadays, using not only our own knowledge and experiences but also what we receive from the ESS. With his curiosity towards aspects that for us are already common ground (but not yet for him), like GSBPM, or GSIM standards, and his availability to participate in the development of new data warehouses processes or validation rules and quality frameworks, Vladimir has helped us grow and get stronger.
