COOPSTAT NEWS N.º 19 17 caso esta estivesse interessada, e na eventualidade de o Eurostat aceitar alterar a calendarização do estágio e nós próprios conseguirmos adaptar os conteúdos de forma a corresponder ao novo calendário. Apesar de todos os “ses”, a Jelena Lukovic estava disposta a vir e nós ficámos muito felizes! Aresoluçãodas formalidades com o Eurostat e também com a questão dos vistos e outros detalhes atrasou a chegada da estagiária de janeiro para março. O novo calendário também exigiu mais da Jelena. Normalmente, os estagiários têm um mês e meio para se habituarem aos procedimentos de ETL no data warehouse, às ferramentas Business Objects para extraírem informação e ao sistema de metainformação. Durante o mês de fevereiro o data warehouse é preparado com novas variáveis, classificações e versões para o novo ano, algo que forma substancialmente os estagiários e que os torna familiarizados não apenas com os procedimentos técnicos mas também com a língua portuguesa. Esta sobrecarga não desmotivou a Jelena, que se atirou de cabeça e lutou para se adaptar e corresponder às expectativas das equipa e dos utilizadores do data warehouse . Vários colegas de diferentes departamentos, em particular do Departamento de Recolha e Gestão de Dados, trabalharam com a Jelena diariamente; e ela com certeza vai deixar saudades muito para lá do DMSI/II (a unidade que a acolheu). Pela primeira vez, um estágio vai acabar em julho, o que nos permite agradecer à estagiária através desta newsletter , ainda durante a sua estadia em Portugal e aqui connosco. Por isso, muito obrigada Jelena, foi fantástico ter-te na nossa equipa! Despite all these ifs, Jelena Lukovic was willing to come and we were very happy for it! The bureaucracy with Eurostat and also with Visa and other details delayed her arrival from January to March. The new calendar also demanded more from Jelena. Usually the trainees have a month and a half to get used to the ETL Procedures on the data warehouse, to the Business Objects tools to extract information and to the metadata system. During February the data warehouse is preparedwith thenewvariables, classifications andversions for the following year which provides a lot of training and gets the trainees acquainted not only with the technical procedures but also with the Portuguese language. This extra burden did not discourage Jelena who jumped right in and struggled to adapt and to match all the expectations that the team and also data warehouse users had from her. Several colleagues in different subject matter departments and DRGD (Data Collection and Management Department) worked with her on a daily basis; and she will surely be missed outside DMSI/II (the hosting Unit). For the first time a traineeship with us will end in July and so we have the opportunity to thank Jelena through this newsletter, while she is still here in Portugal with us.
