COOPSTAT NEWS N.º 20 9 EM FOCO HIGHLIGHTS Peer Review ao Sistema Estatístico de Cabo Verde Peer Review of the National Statistical System of Cabo Verde Realizou-se entre 27 e 31 de janeiro uma Peer Review ao Sistema Estatístico Nacional (SEN) de Cabo Verde, na qual participou a Diretora do Serviço de Planeamento e Controlo de Qualidade do INE-PT, Magda Ribeiro, na qualidade de consultora técnica. A missão foi enquadrada pelo Programa Pan-Africano de Estatística, promovido pela Comissão Europeia, e que tem como principal objetivo o aumento da disponibilidade e qualidade da informação estatística em África. Um dos instrumentos que permite avaliar o progresso dos sistemas face a este objetivo é o exercício de peer review , através do qual cada SEN é avaliado por dois dos seus pares, tendo como referência as normas constantes dos Princípios Fundamentais de Estatísticas Oficiais das Nações Unidas e da Carta Africana de Estatística. Na peer review a Cabo Verde, a equipa de avaliadores integroudois pares de INEs lusófonos (CamiloCeita, Diretor Geral do INE Angola, e Eliza Mónica Magáua, Presidente do INE Moçambique), a consultora do INE Portugal, Magda Ribeiro, e a observadora da União Africana (UA), Leila Ben Ali, Chefe da Divisão de Estatísticas da UA. A Peer Review of the National Statistical System (NSS) of Cabo Verde was carried out between 27 and 31 January, in which the Head of Unit for Planning, Control and Quality at Statistics Portugal, Magda Ribeiro, participated as a technical expert. The mission was covered by the Pan- African Statistics Programme, promoted by the European Commission, whose main objective is to increase the availability and quality of statistical information in Africa. The peer review exercise allows progress to be tracked against this objective. Each NSS is evaluated by two of its peers, having as reference the standards of the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics of the United Nations and the African Charter on Statistics. In the Cabo Verde peer review, the team of evaluators included two peers from Portuguese-speaking NSIs (Camilo Ceita, Director General of NSI Angola, and Eliza Mónica Magáua, President of NSI Mozambique), an expert from Statistics Portugal, Magda Ribeiro, and the observer from the African Union (AU), Leila Ben Ali, Head of the AU Statistics Division.
