COOPSTAT NEWS N.º 24 10 Cooperação com os Países de Língua Portuguesa Cooperation with Portuguese-speaking Countries The CPLP Statistical Programme aims to contribute to the process of modernisation, capacity building and institutional strengthening of the National Statistical Systems (NSS) of the CPLP member countries. In this context, a grant for a cooperation exchange in the areas of Coordination and SDGs is currently being implemented at Statistics Portugal. The grant was awarded to Liussakara Daio, a Cooperation Expert from NSI of São Tomé and Príncipe, from July 2023. The Head of the External Relations and Cooperation Unit, Conceição Veiga, is in charge of coordination, with the support of Carolina Fresta Santos, a senior Expert from the same Unit. Liussakara Daio left her testimony, in which she stressed that this has been a rewarding experience on a personal and professional level. «I seized this opportunity to improve my know-how regarding the coordination of cooperation and project management in the international context and to familiarize myself with new working dynamics and profit from the experience of valuable human resources. I can now share that it has been one of the best experiences I have ever had. I grew up on an island (São Tomé and Principe) and the unique and peculiar view we have on the islands is so different from that of Portugal! The fact that I’m here is magnificent. I have been very well received by my colleagues at the External Relations and Cooperation Unit and by Statistics Portugal in general, and they have made my experience warm, very formative and enriching. It will be a splendid three years and I hope to live up to the expectations. Thank you all very much, and a special thanks to Ms. Conceição Veiga and to my colleague Carolina Santos. » Liussakara Daio (Lisboa, 2023) Convívio com as colegas do Serviço de Relações Externas e Cooperação. | Social gathering with the colleagues from the External Relations and Cooperation Unit.
