COOPSTAT NEWS N.º 25 9 Cooperação com os Países de Língua Portuguesa Cooperation with Portuguese-speaking Countries O Seminário visou propiciar o contacto, partilha e aprendizagem comum entre países que integram diferentes comunidades regionais (ex. União Europeia, CPLP, União Africana), transversalmente comprometidas com a qualidade das estatísticas oficiais, conforme ilustrado pelo Código de Conduta para as Estatísticas Europeias, pelo Programa Estatístico da CPLP, e pela Carta Africana de Estatística. Foi assim possível, tal como previsto nas Conclusões da IX Conferência Estatística da CPLP (Lisboa, 2022), discutir e refletir sobre matérias relevantes e de interesse comum, enquadradas pela temática da Qualidade em estatísticas oficiais. The Seminar aimed to provide dialogue, sharing and common learning between countries that are part of different regional communities (e.g. European Union, CPLP, African Union), transversally committed to the quality of official statistics, as illustrated by the European Statistics Code of Practice, the CPLP Statistical Programme, and the African Charter on Statistics. It was thus possible, as foreseen in the Conclusions of the IX Statistical Conference of the CPLP (Lisbon, 2022), to discuss and reflect on relevant matters of common interest, framed by the theme of Quality in official statistics. The opening session, chaired by the President of Statistics Portugal, Francisco Lima, and also composed by the Director of Cooperation of the CPLP Executive Secretariat, Manuel Lapão, emphasised the role of official statistics as a public good and democratic foundation, in line with the Q2024 motto “Official statistics as a pillar of democracy”.
