154 | Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável | Sustainable Development Goals Ao nível das NUTS III, verifica-se que, entre 2010 e 2015, seis sub-regiões – Terras de Trás-os-Montes (43,05%), Viseu Dão Lafões (27,42%), Região de Aveiro (22,69%), Douro (16,67%), Oeste (5,61%) e Algarve (5,00%) – registaram um incremento da extensão total de águas abertas superior ao observado para o território continental, em resultado de um aumento verificado na extensão de águas abertas de elementos artificiais. No caso das sub-regiões Terras de Trás-os-Montes, Douro, Viseu Dão-Lafões e Região de Aveiro, o crescimento significativo dos elementos artificiais deveu-se à construção de reservatórios de barragens. Com exceção das sub-regiões do Alto Minho e do Alto Tâmega, onde se verificou uma diminuição marginal da extensão total de águas abertas no período em análise, nas restantes 15 sub-regiões do Continente a taxa de crescimento da extensão total de águas abertas situou-se abaixo da média observada para o território continental. In the case of the sub-regions of Terras de Trás- os-Montes, Douro, Viseu Dão-Lafões and Região de Aveiro, the significant growth was due to the construction of dam reservoirs. With the exception of Alto Minho and Alto Tâmega sub-regions, where there was a marginal decrease in the total extension of open water between 2010 and 2015, the growth rate recorded for the remaining 15 sub-regions stood below the value observed for Mainland Portugal. 6.6.1.c.
