| 175 Indicador 8.9.1. Turismo em percentagem do PIB e taxa de variação (dados proxy ) This indicator reflects the importance of tourism in the economy. The indicator “8.9.1 Tourism direct GDP as a proportion of total GDP and in growth rate” is evaluated nationally by the proxy indicator “GVA generated by tourism as a proportion of total GVA”. In Portugal it was defined in this way, since the Tourism Satellite Account only measures the GVA generated by tourism and not GDP. In 2017, in Portugal the GVA generated by tourism reached 7.5% of the GVA of the national economy, +0.6 p.p. compared to the previous year. Between 2015 and 2017, tourism grew more intensely than the national economy. Compared to other European countries with information, Portugal comes in second in terms of the relative importance of GVA generated by tourism. Indicator 8.9.1. Em 2017, em Portugal, o VAB gerado pelo turismo atingiu 7,5% do VAB da economia nacional, mais 0,6 p.p. face ao ano anterior. Entre 2015 e 2017, o turismo observou uma dinâmica de crescimento significativamente superior à verificada na economia nacional.
