However, a significant growth of 6.3% was registered in 2015 (due to the fact that this year was extremely dry, with implications for the production of hydroelectric energy), partially offset in 2016 (-5.1%). In the EU28, in the period under review, this indicator showed a decreasing trend (-17.2%), registering, since 2012, lower values than those observed for Portugal.
