198 | Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável | Sustainable Development Goals This indicator considers the accessibility of the population to a mobile network signal, regardless of ownership or use of specific equipment. Over the last decade, mobile networks have expanded rapidly and have helped to overcome previously existing barriers using fixed networks, with greater deployment in urban areas. The coverage of the mobile telecommunications network in Portugal in 2017 remained at 99.8% of the population, according to information from the Portuguese telecommunicationsauthority, ANACOM. The 3G mobile network technology continued to expand and reached 99.5%of the population (+0.2 pp than in 2016), having increased by 15.5 pp since 2010. The mobile network technology LTE (Long Term Evolution)/ 4G also registered an increase in 2017 (+0.1 pp than in 2016), attaining to a 98.9% coverage of the population. Since 2012, coverage by 4G technology has increased by 9.2 pp. Indicador 9.c.1. A tecnologia de rede móvel 3G continuou a expandir-se e atingiu 99,5% da população (+0,2 p.p. do que em 2016), tendo aumentado 15,5 p.p. desde 2010.
