National recycling rate, tons of material recycled (proxy data) The objectives and rationale underlying the sectoral waste indicators referred in the indicators 12.4.2 are also applicable to this indicator, namely: increase recycling to promote the circular economy. The indicator “12.5.1. National recycling rate, tons of recycled material” is evaluated nationally by the proxy indicators “Proportion of urban waste prepared for reuse and recycling” and “ Disposal of biodegradable municipal waste on landfill”. Os objetivos e fundamentos subjacentes aos indicadores sobre resíduos setoriais referidos para os indicadores 12.4.2 são também aplicáveis a este indicador, nomeadamente: aumento da reciclagem para promoção da economia circular. O indicador “12.5.1. Taxa de reciclagem nacional, toneladas de material reciclado”, é avaliado nacionalmente pelos indicadores proxy “Proporção de resíduos urbanos preparados para a reutilização e reciclagem” e “Deposição de resíduos urbanos biodegradáveis (RUB) em aterro”. 12.5.1.a - Proporção de resíduos urbanos preparados para a reutilização e reciclagem 12.5.1.a - Proportion of municipal waste prepared for reuse and recycling The target agreed under the Waste Framework Directive is to achieve 50% by 2020 on the preparing forre-useactivitiesandrecycling.By2016,thisratehas increased to 37.8%, resulting in a cumulative increase of 12.5 pp since 2012, reflecting, in particular, the start-up of new installations for Mechanical Treatment (MT) andMechanical andBiological Treatment (MBT) as well as the growth of selective collection. In regional terms, it should be highlighted the evolution in the Região Autónoma dos Açores, which in the series under analysis registered an increase of 27.8 pp between 2012 and 2016, from a minimum of 10.6% in 2012 to 38.4% in 2016, matching the value accounted for the Portugal Mainland territory. AmetaconvencionadanoâmbitodaDiretiva -Quadro Resíduos é a de atingir uma taxa de preparação de resíduos para reutilização e reciclagem de 50% em 2020. Em 2016, esta taxa aumentou para 37,8%, perfazendo-se assim um aumento acumulado de 12,5 pontos percentuais desde 2012, refletindo, nomeadamente, a entrada em funcionamento de novas instalações de Tratamento Mecânico (TM) e de Tratamento Mecânico e Biológico (TMB) e o crescimento da recolha seletiva. Em termos regionais destaca-se a evolução na Região Autónoma dos Açores, que na série em análise registouumacréscimode27,8p.p. entre2012 e 2016, de ummínimo de 10,6%em2012 para 38,4% em 2016, igualando o valor registado no território continental.
