Proporção do território que é área fl orestal 36,8% 35,8% 35,4% 1995 2005 2010 Entende-se por floresta um terreno onde se verifica a presença de árvores florestais que tenham atingido, ou que pelas suas características ou forma de exploração venham a atingir, uma altura superior a 5 m, e cujo grau de coberto (definido pela razão entre a área da projeção horizontal das copas das árvores e a área total da superfície de terreno) seja maior ou igual a 10%. Asuperfícieflorestal emPortugal representava35,4% da superfície geográfica nacional em2010, refletindo um decréscimo de 1,4 p.p. face a 1995 e menos 0,4 p.p. face a 2005. Esta evolução foi promovida pelo decréscimodasuperfícieflorestal ao longodoperíodo 1995-2010 a uma taxa de variação média anual de -0,2% (menos 121,3 mil hectares). A forest is defined as land where there are forest trees which have attained a height of more than 5 m and whose degree of cover (defined by the area of the horizontal projection of the crowns of trees and the total area of the land surface) is greater than or equal to 10%. The forest area in Portugal accounted for 35.4% of the national geographic area in 2010, reflecting a decrease of 1.4 pp compared to 1995 and less 0.4 pp compared to 2005. This evolution was promoted by the decrease in forest area over the period 1995-2010 at an average annual rate of change of -0.2% (minus 121.3 thousand hectares). Indicator 15.1.1.
