No período em análise, o número de óbitos maternos devidoacomplicaçõesduranteagravidezounoparto registou o valor mais baixo em 2012 (4,5 por 100 mil nados-vivos). Este indicador inclui a mortalidade materna (óbito da mulher durante a gravidez ou no período de 42 dias após o término da gravidez, excluindo causas externas), e a mortalidade materna tardia (morte da mulher por causas obstétricas diretas ou indiretas, maisde42dias,masmenosdeumanoapóso término da gravidez). In 2017 the maternal mortality ratio was 10.4 per 100,000 live births, slightly higher than in the previous year, but quite lower than the world average (216 per 100,000 live births in 2015). Between 2010 and 2017, the number of maternal deaths due to complications during pregnancy or childbirth reached the lowest value in 2012 (4.5 per 100,000 live births). The indicator includes maternal deaths (the death of a woman while pregnant or within 42 days of termination of pregnancy, excluding accidental or incidental causes) and late maternal deaths (the death of a woman from direct or indirect obstetric causes, more than 42 days, but less than one year after termination of pregnancy).
