No mesmo ano, a doença afetou relativamente mais homens (23,5por 100mil) quemulheres (11,3por 100 mil), e a população com 75 e mais anos, com 25,5 casos notificados por 100 mil habitantes. Por região, as taxas de incidência mais elevadas foramas registadas naÁreaMetropolitana de Lisboa e na região Norte, respetivamente, com 22,9 e 20,6 casos por 100 mil habitantes. A taxa de incidência mais baixa foi a registada na Região Autónoma da Madeira, com3,1novos casospor 100mil habitantes. The tuberculosis was the notifiable disease with the highest incidence rate in Portugal in the period under review. In 2017, it accounted for 1,783 new cases, i.e. an incidence rate of 17.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the same as in the previous year and lower than in 2015 (20.5 per 100,000 inhabitants). In the same year, the disease affectedmoremen (23.5 per 100,000) than women (11.3 per 100,000), and those aged 75 years old and over with 25.5 notified cases per 100,000 inhabitants. By region, the highest incidence rates were recorded in Área Metropolitana de Lisboa and in the region Norte with, respectively, 22.9 and 20.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
