Revenue kept upward trend and increased by 17% compared to 2019 - June 2022

Summary

The tourist accommodation sector registered 2.7 million guests and 7.2 million overnight stays in June 2022, corresponding to increases of 97.3% and 110.2%, respectively (+162.3% and +221.7% in May, in the same order). When compared with June 2019, there were reductions of 2.6% and 0.4%, respectively. 

In June, the domestic market contributed 2.3 million overnight stays (+16.5%) and the external markets amounted to 4.8 million (241.8%). When compared with June 2019, the domestic market grew by 7.0% and the external markets decreased by 3.5%.

The total revenue increased by 157.0%, to EUR 545.4 million, and the revenue from accommodation amounted to EUR 416.4 million, increasing by 165.4%. Compared with June 2019, there were increases of 17.0% and 17.4%, respectively. The average revenue per available room (RevPAR) was EUR 70.6 in June and the average daily rate (ADR) amounted to EUR 111.8. When compared with June 2019, the RevPAR increased by 13.6% and the ADR grew by 14.6%.

In the first half of 2022, the number of overnight stays increased by 252.4% (+84.1% concerning residents and +529.5% regarding non-residents). When compared with the same period in 2019, the number of overnight stays declined by 7.0% because of the decrease in overnight stays of non-residents (-11.9%), given that those spent by residents increased by 5.2%. In the first half of 2022, the total revenue increased by 308.1% and the revenue from accommodation grew by 311.8% (+4.8% and +5.8% compared with the same period in 2019, respectively).

In the 2nd quarter of 2022, the number of overnight stays increased by 209.9% (-0.2% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2019). Resident overnight stays increased by 55.6% (+9.9% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2019) and non-resident overnight stays grew by 450.1% (-4.1% vis-à-vis the 2nd quarter of 2019). In this quarter, the total revenue increased by 261.3% (+14.9% compared with the 2nd quarter of 2019) and the revenue from accommodation grew by 270.0% (+15.2% compared with the 2nd quarter of 2019).
