Decline in wine production but increase in quality
- November 2005
22 November 2005
Summary
Grape harvest was concluded, and wineries are in full labour. Early estimates point to a quality production of around 5,765,000 hectolitres, which represents a decline of 20% from the previous season.
October rainfalls relieved the extreme draught situation, permitting pasture and meadow to be regenerated and sowing to be made under more favourable moist conditions as required for tillage and sprouting.
In September the slaughter of main poultry increased vis-à-vis the same period of the previous year, totalling around 22,000 tons. Poultry production also rose by 6.2%.
