The Portuguese Consumer Price Index (CPI) went up by 1.8% in July 2010 when compared with July 2009. Excluding energy and unprocessed food, the annual rate increased to 0.6% from 0.2% in June. On a monthly basis, the CPI increased 0.1% (-0.5% in July 2009). The CPI 12-month average rate of change increased to 0.0% in July (-0.2% in June).
In July, the Portuguese Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) annual inflation rate was 1.9% (1.1% in June), 0.2 percentage points (p.p.) above the rate estimated by Eurostat for the Euro area.
