Services turnover index, in nominal terms and adjusted for calendar and seasonal effects, presented a year-on-year change rate of -12.8% in December (-15.2% in November). In the 4th quarter of 2020, the year-on-year change rate was -13.3% (-14.0% in the previous quarter). For the year 2020, services turnover index dropped 15.3% (in 2019, the same index has grown by 2.8%).
The year-on-year change rates of the indices of employment, wages and salaries and number of hours worked adjusted of calendar effects were -8.2%, -6.6% and -11.2%, respectively (-8.3%, -3.8% and -12.4% in November, by the same order). In 2020, the indices of employment, wages and salaries and hours worked (gross data) decreased by 5.9%, 4.7% and 12.5%, respectively (change rates of 1.4%, 4.8% and 1.3% in 2019).
Despite the circumstances determined by the pandemic COVID-19, Statistics Portugal calls for the best collaboration by companies, families and public entities in responding to Statistics Portugal’s data requests.
