The tourist accommodation sector registered 2.1 million guests and 5.5 million overnight stays in October 2021, corresponding to increases of 115.5% and 139.0%, respectively (+52.3% and +58.5% in September, in the same order). Compared to October 2019, the number of guests decreased by 14.6% and overnight stays declined by 13.5%.

In October, the domestic market contributed 2.0 million overnight stays and increased by 65.4%, continuing to exceed the levels of the same period of 2019 (+28.2%). Overnight stays of non-residents amounted to 3.5 million, the highest value since October 2019, having tripled when compared to October 2020 (+216.6%), but declined by 26.7% vis-à-vis October 2019.

The total revenue registered in the tourist accommodation establishments amounted to EUR 332.9 million and the revenue for accommodation was EUR 245.9 million, more than doubling when comparing to 2020. When compared with October 2019, total revenue decreased by 14.9% and revenue for accommodation declined by 15.2%. The average revenue per available room (RevPAR) was EUR 42.7 in October (EUR 48.0 in September). The average daily rate (ADR) amounted to EUR 84.0 in October (EUR 91.2 in September). In October 2019, the RevPAR was EUR 50.2 and the ADR amounted to EUR 84.3.

In the first ten months of 2021, there were increases of 45.9% in total revenue and 47.8% in revenue for accommodation. When compared with the same period of 2019, the rates of change were -49.1% and -49.0%, respectively.

Between January and October 2021, considering all means of accommodation (tourist accommodation establishments, camping and holiday camps, and youth hostels), there were 13.4 million guests and 36.1 million overnight stays, corresponding to increases of 24.2% and 28.7%, respectively.
