Rainfalls in June cause damage to agriculture - June 2007
18 July 2007

Summary
On 30 June, early estimates point to a decline in grain cereals yield. Spring surfaces are being cultivated under good conditions and an increase of the maize surface of nearly 15% is expected, due to the rise of the maize world price. On orchards, the yields of apples and pears will be less than expected, with drops in about 10% for pears and 20% for apples. The cherries season will be the worst of the last years, not only in terms of volume (production drops 40%) but also in terms of quality.
