New housing construction costs decelerate - December 2004

Summary
In December 2004 the new housing construction cost index on the mainland rose by 4.6% from the same month in 2003, representing a deceleration of 0.4 percentage point (p.p.) from the previous month. This development of the index was common to both components, labour and material, which decelerated by 0.2 p.p. and 0.6 p.p. respectively. The year-on-year change in the housing regular repair and maintenance price index on the mainland was 3.4% in December 2004, i.e. down by 0.1 p.p. from the previous month. The year-on-year rates of change in services and products for housing regular maintenance and repair were 4.2% and 2.3% in the same period respectively, similar to those recorded in the previous month.
