Summary
In the second quarter of 2009, the number of air passengers in national airports reached 7.3 millions which meant a decrease of 1.4% towards the same period of the previous year. Between April and June the movement of passengers by heavy rail also presented a year-on-year decrease (-3.3%), as well as in subway transport (-0.4%). The transport of goods also revealed less tonnes carried with bigger downwards in heavy rail mode ( 26.4%), followed by air mode (-15.3%) and maritime mode (-5.7%). In the 1st quarter of 2009, less 6.2 thousand tonnes of goods were transported in road freight transport (-13% towards the 1st quarter of 2008).
