Summary

June 2023 (definitive estimates):

The active population (5,268.7 thousand people) decreased from March and May 2023 (0.2%, relatively to both months) and increased from June 2022 (1.7%).

The employed population (4,935.4 thousand) decreased from the previous month, having increased compared to three months before (0.3%) and with the same month of the previous year (1.3%).

The unemployed population (333.3 thousand) decreased by 1.4% from May 2023 and by 7.5% from March 2023 and increased by 7.7% from June from a year earlier.

The unemployment rate stood at 6.3%, down 0.1 percentage points (pp) from the previous month, down 0.5 pp from three months before and up 0.3 pp from a year earlier.

The inactive population (2,419.5 thousand) increase 0.5% from both March and May 2023, having decrease by 2.5% from June 2022.

The labour underutilisation rate was estimated at 11.7%, down 0.1 pp from the previous month, down 0.3 pp from three months before and up 0.1 pp from one year earlier.

June 2023 (provisional estimates):

The active population (5,262.6 thousand) decreased from the previous month (0.1%), from April 2023 (0.2%), having increased by 1.4% from July 2022.

The employed population (4,932.7 thousand) decreased from the previous month (0.1%), having increased from three months before (0.1%) and the same month of the previous year (1.0%).

The unemployed population (329.9 thousand) decreased from the previous month (1.0%) and from three months before (4.5%), having increased from a year earlier (6.4%).

The unemployment rate stood at 6.3%, remaining unchanged from June 2023, down from April of the same year  (0.2 pp), but up from July 2022 (0.3 pp).

The inactive population (2,427.3 thousand) increased from the previous month (0.3%) and from three months before (0.6%), having decreased from one year earlier (1.7 pp).

The labour underutilisation rate stood at 11.6%, down 0.1 pp from the previous month, down 0.4 pp from three months before, having remained unchanged from the same month of 2022.
