Summary
In 2007, there were 5 075 foreign affiliates in Portugal. Although representing only 0.5% of total enterprises in non-financial business sector, foreign affiliates accounted for almost 8% of persons employed and more than 17% of value added generated by enterprises in 2007. Services and Trade sectors concentrated the highest proportions of foreign affiliates, with 48.7% and 30.6%, respectively. More than 66% of foreign affiliates in Portugal had their decision centre in one of the European Union Member States, with Spain leading the source of foreign capitals invested in Portugal.
