Building and housing statistics 2012 follows up the annual series Construction and Housing Statistics and sets out a wide range of indicators on construction and housing in Portugal.

From the set of information now available, we emphasize the Dwelling Stock Estimates 1991-2012, indicators on 2012 Works Completed and Building Permits, and the results from the third edition of the Characterization of Social Housing Survey (2012).

With the new edition of Population and Housing Census for 2011 a calibration and adjustment on Dwelling Stock Estimates was needed, for the period 2001-2011, in order to guarantee the coherence between data on Census year and data for the all decade.

In this publication data are disseminated with a geographical breakdown to NUTS 3 level, for almost all variables. Data and indicators with a more refined geographical breakdown are available on the Portuguese Official Statistics Portal.
