The NUTS 2013 - the new territorial units for statistics presents the new nomenclature which supports the collection, compilation and distribution of regional statistical information at European level. The new regional breakdown (NUTS 2013) began to be applied by the National and European Statistical System on 1 January 2015. This publication presents, in addition to the new Portuguese NUTS, the European regulation on the establishment of a common classification of territorial units for statistics (NUTS), the previous revisions of the Portuguese NUTS under the national legal framework and the relationship with the European Union cohesion policy.
